Jim was born in Fayetteville, Arkansas on June 28, 1935 to his parents, Sarah Spencer Roy and Kenneth Bennett Roy. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Margaret Howard Roy of Birmingham, AL; his two sons, Kenneth B. Roy III (Carla) of Arley, AL, and James Spencer Roy Jr. of Opelika, AL; one grandson, Nathan Thomson; one brother, Kenneth B. Roy Jr. of Anniston, AL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sarah and Kenneth Roy and his sister, Lucy Roy Sibley.
Jim graduated from Auburn University in 1957 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He later went on to serve in the U.S. Air Force as a Captain Navigator. He was a sales manager for ACIPCO for 37 years before retiring. Jim was also a proud member of Third Presbyterian Church, PCA where he served as an Elder. Throughout his life he continued to serve as local and state officer in ASME and was a long time member of Auburn Engineering Advisory Counsel.
A memorial service for James will be held Friday, June 26, 2020 at 11:30 AM at Southern Heritage Funeral Home, 475 Cahaba Valley Road, Pelham, AL 35124, followed by a visitation and reception.
