Jo Ann Armstrong Jones

March 4, 1940 – December 14, 2017

JONES, JO ANN ARMSTRONG, age 77 of Hoover, AL, passed away on Thursday, December 14, 2017 after a long, courageous battle with CBD. Born in Columbus, GA on March 4, 1940, Ann graduated from Central High School in Phenix City, AL. Prior to retirement in 1995, she was employed as a bookkeeper, and as the senior customer representative and office manager for an insurance agency and for a large national financial firm.

She was preceded in death by her father, Henry Smith Armstrong; mother, Julia Bolin; and son, Jeffrey Jones. She is survived by her brother, Steve Bolin (Cathy) of Columbus, GA; longtime companion of 28 years, Dave Judd, of Hoover, AL; David, Jr., Samantha and Grant Judd of Alexandria, VA; and Suzanne Wittson (Darrin) of Weehawken, NJ.

Ann was an avid sports fan and enjoyed attending and watching NFL and Alabama football, golf and NASCAR racing. She enjoyed extensive travel, both in the United States and overseas, particularly to countries in the Far East. Flower gardening was her favorite hobby, followed closely by weekly shopping trips and lunch with her close friend Taffy Szczuka. Affectionately known as "Miss Annie", she was a kind lady who was loved and respected by her loving extended family and friends. Her beautiful smile will be greatly missed by all the lives she touched.

The family would like to express special heartfelt thanks to the medical personnel and facilities, and the many caregivers who provided wonderful comfort, encouragement and love, especially the dedicated care provided by Helen Arnold continuously for several years.

The Celebration of Ann’s life will be at 10:00 am on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at Southern Heritage Funeral Home, Highway 119, Pelham, AL, immediately followed by a visitation and reception. Interment with graveside services will be in Parkhill Cemetery, Columbus, GA with Striffler-Hamby Mortuary directing.
