Joan Howard Canales

Born on January 5, 1945, Joan graduated from Madison Academy, attended Lipscomb University, and received her bachelor’s degree from Harding University. She was married to Anthony "Tony" L. Canales for 57 years.

Joan passionately served the Lord, raised her four children, and maintained deep connections with a multitude of friends. She was a member of the Church of Christ attending West Huntsville, Waverly, McKenzie, Florence Boulevard, Mayfair, then Riverchase.

Joan is preceded in death by her parents, Jennie Goodpasture Howard and Wayne Howard. Survivors include Joan's husband, Tony Canales; children, Christopher Canales, Susanna Canales Palmer, Kathryn Canales Fetner, and Rebecca Canales Williams; and grandchildren, BreAna Werner, Wyatt Werner, Sam Fetner, Will Fetner, Owen Canales, and Isabelle Canales of Alabama.

A Celebration of Life for Joan Canales will begin at 10 a.m. on Friday, January 3, 2024 at the Galleria Woods Community Room, 3850 Galleria Woods Drive, Birmingham, AL 35244.

In addition, A Celebration of Joan's Life will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 4, 2024 at Mayfair Church of Christ, 1095 Carl T Jones Drive SE, Huntsville, AL 35802.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to World Bible School in care of Mayfair Church of Christ.
