The son of Marie and John J. Dunn Sr., John attended Notre Dame University, graduating with a degree in Electrical Engineering. While in college, he met and married the love of his life, Marjory E. Bixby, on September 7, 1963.
After graduating, John and Marge bought their first home in Somerset, New Jersey, where they started their new family, welcoming home their daughter, Pamela, in 1964 and son, Patrick, in 1965. Early in his career, John attended Rutgers University in the evenings and on weekends, earning his Master Degree in Business Administration.
The family moved to Roswell, Georgia for John's promotion to Plant Manager of Federal Pacific Electric's switchgear manufacturing plant. After nine years there, the family moved to Houston, Texas for five years before settling in Birmingham, Alabama in 1986.
Always having a passion for computers, John established his own business in 1990: The Micro Doc. He thoroughly enjoyed those years, building and maintaining computer systems and networks for families and small businesses in our community. As he worked toward his retirement in 2010, he and Marge enjoyed extensive travel, seeing all corners of the United States and Europe.
John is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marge; daughter, Pam Dewberry and her husband Jim; son, Pat Dunn and his wife Susan; sister, Margaret Zipp; grandchildren, Eric, Allen and Jack Dewberry, Adam Dunn, and Rachel Wallace; great-granddaughter, Cameron Wallace; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
