Eddie graduated from Thompson High School in Alabaster, Alabama and earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology Degree from Jacksonville State. His Bio Chemistry career included work at the UAB Institute of Dental Research, Alabama Power Company, and the State of Alabama Health Department.
Eddie was a member of Knollwood Presbyterian Church in Sylacauga, Alabama. He enjoyed studying Civil War history, hunting, fishing, woodworking, and farming.
Eddie is survived by his wife, the former Jo Anne Self, to whom he was wed on September 3, 1966; three children, John E. Finch III (Katherine), Reese Finch, and Joanna Finch; two grandchildren, Carson A. Finch and Cooper T. Finch; and one sister, Charlotte Thorton.
Eddie's family will greet friends on Thursday, September 14, 2023 at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, Alabama from 10-11 a.m., followed by A Service of Remembrance at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Allan Cemetery in Indian Springs Village, Alabama.
