Joseph Christopher Honea

Joseph was born in Birmingham, Alabama, on May 23rd, 1996, to Jeff and Emily Honea. He was a senior at Briarwood Christian School where he was an excellent student and the first chair trombone player in the band. Joe worked part time at Sanpeggio’s Pizza, supporting his church and saving money for college.

Joe was an avid outdoorsman. One of his greatest joys was going hunting and fishing with his father and brother.

Joe faithfully attended New Life Church in Westover. Joe was very tenderhearted, and he interacted well with little children. He never missed a chance to play with his many nieces and nephews, and Joe volunteered to participate in the children’s ministries at his church. Twice a month he would evidence his love for Christ and little children by offering his time and energy teaching in the children’s church program, “Kids of the Rock”. He was a participant in the Fellowship of Christian Frontiersman (FCF). Joe also recently participated in a mission trip to South Africa.

Joseph Christopher Honea was the type of person anyone would be proud to call a son, grandson, nephew, cousin, or friend. He is survived by his parents, Dr. Jeff and Emily (Oates) Honea, his older brother, Jeff Honea, his younger sister, Hannah Honea, maternal grandparents, Dr. and Mrs. Thomas and Kathy Oates, paternal grandparents, Rev. and Mrs. Neil and Shirley Honea, maternal Great Grandmother Mrs. Sara Oates, paternal Great Grandparents Rev. and Mrs. Bill and Margie Moore, and numerous Uncles, Aunts, and Cousins.

Celebration of Life for Joseph will be held at New Life Church. 11580 US HWY 280, Westover, Al 31585. Viewing: Tuesday, September 10, 2013 4PM-7PM and funeral services Wednesday, September 11, 2013 11AM. Interment following at Southern Heritage Funeral Home.
