Joseph Amos Wilkerson, Jr., 90 of Wilsonville, passed away on Thursday, October 26, 2017. Mr. Wilkerson retired after 40 years from the Birmingham News Pressroom. During WWII, he served with the 20th Recon Squadron, 5th Army Air Corp, receiving the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Victory medal.
Mr. Wilkerson is preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Wilkerson. He is survived by his sons, Glenn Wilkerson (Karen) and Bart Wilkerson (Chris). Also left to cherish his memory are three granddaughters and four great grandchildren.
The celebration of Joe’s life will be at 1pm on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at Southern Heritage Funeral Home, with visitation beginning at 12 noon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wilsonville United Methodist Church.
