Officer Juan Manuel Gomez

Juan was born on July 10, 1982 in Guanajuato, Mexico to Manuel and Maria Gomez. He graduated from Steinmetz High School in Chicago, Illinois and later attended Jacksonville State University and Alabama Northeast Police Academy.

Juan proudly served his country in the United States Army where he earned the Army Commendation Medal and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal. He was with the Albertville Police Department from 2006-2010 and currently with Pelham Police Department since 2010, where not only served as a patrol officer, but also served as a member of the department’s Emergency Services Unit and as a member of the Bike Patrol Unit. Juan also obtained an HVAC contractor’s license and was the founder and owner of HVAC Tactical Solutions, LLC where he would work on his off days at Pelham.

Juan was a member of Shades Mountain Community Church in Hoover, Alabama. He truly lived his faith and would share his love of God with everyone. Juan enjoyed many outdoor activities such as biking, hiking and kayaking. He was an excellent cook and loved to have close friends and family try his new recipes. Above everything, he loved his wife and children.

He is preceded in death by his daughter, Lilyana Marie Gomez.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of almost 14 years, Katie Gomez; his two beautiful children, Abbie and Eli; his parents, Manuel and Maria Gomez; his sisters, Nora and Marina; and his brother, Daniel. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Josh, Johanna, and Asher.

Visitation for Officer Gomez will be held at Shades Mountain Community Church on Tuesday, August 17, 2021, from 6:00-8:00 pm. The funeral will be at Shades Mountain Community Church on Wednesday, August 18, 2021, at 10:00 am. The service will be live-streamed for those that cannot attend at smcc.church. Burial will follow at Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo.
