

She was born on February 6, 1940, in Birmingham, Alabama to the late Tolbert and Evelyn Barry. After graduating from Woodlawn High School, Judith went on to obtain her undergrad and Masters from UAB, her law degree from Samford University, and a Library Science degree from the University of Alabama. In all, Judith obtained five college degrees and never stopped learning. She was a librarian at the Library of Congress, a professor at Samford University, and a Biochemical Researcher at UAB. She created many new systems implemented at the Library of Congress and was a member of the American Library Association. Judith was also a member of the Cumberland Law Review, Samford University.
A woman of many passions, she enjoyed going to the gym, she was an avid reader, a huge fan of 1940’s actor George Sanders, a Green Bay Packers fan, and lover of all thing's giraffes and hearts.
Left to cherish her memory are her four children, Bonnie McNeely; Deborah Brooks; Donald Brooks, Jr. (Cindy); and Scott Brooks (Rebecca); 10 grandchildren, Daniel Chappell; Jarrod Chappell; Ashley McNeely; Stephany Brooks; Samantha Brooks; Elizabeth Brooks; Madeleine Brooks; Levi Brooks; Courtney Barfield; and Rachel Maurer; seven great-grandchildren, Faye Schulmann Brooks; Evelyn Schulmann Brooks; Deaton Schulmann Brooks; Baker Maurer; Sophie Maurer; Shay McNeely, Jude Schulman Brooks, and Evelyn Grace Chappell. She is also survived by dear friends, Phoebe Hancock; Tony Mullan; Tom Mann; and Beth Grauel.
