Kay Mickle Porter, 84, of Hoover, AL, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2025. She was born to Ira and Bertie Styles in Gallant, AL. She graduated from Etowah High School, class of 1959, and then went on to further her education at Snead Junior College, where she received an associate's degree in Arts. Kay found her passion in real estate, where she was an award-winning realtor for many years with the Birmingham Association of Realtors. She was known for her kind heart and ability to win over anyone she met. Kay enjoyed the beauty of flowers, attending auctions, and looked forward to sharing a meal with friends and family. She also found joy in caring for her sweet dog Tia. Kay was also devoted to her faith; she was a member of Dawson Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ira and Bertie Styles; daughter, Tara Leigh Hickman Powell; brother, Gary Styles; and her second husband, James Andrew Mickle, who passed away in 2002, and her third husband, George Porter, who passed away in 2020.
Kay leaves behind her brother, Brent Styles (June); two stepdaughters, Laurie Porter and Leigh Moore; a great-grandchild, Greenleigh Moore; and her devoted friend, Victoria Langdon.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Angels of Mercy Eldercare, owned by Michelle Pruitt. Their whole staff was amazing and we are forever grateful. Michelle is also giving Kay's precious dog Tia a forever home with her own family where Tia can play with oreo. We would also like to thank Southern Care New Beacon Hospice staff and UAB palliative team for their care during a difficult time.
There will be a celebration of life on Friday, April 25, 2025, at 11:00 am at Southern Heritage Funeral Home with a committal service to follow in the adjoining cemetery. The family invites everyone back to the funeral home for a reception to continue celebrating Kay's life.
