Larry "Goat" Hill Sr., age 73, of Shelby County, Alabama passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2019. He was born February 2, 1946 in Keystone (now Pelham), Alabama to Walter Sr. and Kathleen (Glass) Hill.
Goat is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sherry Hill; son Larry W. Hill Jr. (and his wife Tammy) and daughter Leigh Hill; grandchildren Kailyn Hill, Remington Hill, and Tyler Hill; his loyal friend Donald Boyd; as well as many special nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who loved him.
He was preceded in passing by his parents Walter & Kathleen (Glass) Hill; brothers Frank and Walter Jr.; and sisters Willie Mae, Bobbie, Faye, Sara, and Dorothy.
Goat was a beloved husband, Daddy, Paw Paw, and friend. He was a unique, one-of-a-kind, and self-made man. Goat was not afraid of hard work. He was passionate about construction and was a talented salesman. Goat had a magnetic personality that drew others toward him. He was a jokester and known for his love of fishing and Nascar. He was also an avid Auburn football fan. Everybody that met Goat loved him, and he will be sorely missed, but never forgotten, by all. He leaves behind a legacy of love for his wife and children, his family that he was so proud of.
Visitation for Goat will be held Thursday, March 7 from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM at Southern Heritage Funeral Home followed by a celebration of his life at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow at Southern Heritage Cemetery.
