PURSER, LOIS SCOTT, passed away on October 6, 2012. Mrs. Purser was a Corporal with the U.S. Marine Corp, a member of The Sophisticates, The Lamplighters, JBY Ballroom Dance Club, The Club, The Eastern Star and the Brigadier Dance Club. Mrs. Purser was always loving, helpful and full of excitement. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Clyde "Jack" Purser. Survivors include her daughter, Mrs. Faith M. Self of Calera; granddaughter, Candi (Keith) Johnson; great-grandchildren, Ben Johnson and Alexandra Johnson; nieces, Peggy Strickland, Gail Brown and Cindy Carter; and a host of other family members and friends. Funeral services were Wednesday, October 9, 2012 at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home with burial in Southern Heritage Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Shelby County Humane Society or the American Cancer Society.
