

Louis C Henderson Jr. went home to be with the Lord on April 26, 2020. He is predeceased by his parents Louis C. Henderson and Aileen Richmond Henderson. He is survived by his wife of 40 years Sharon Myers Henderson and two daughters Lisa Bice (Mike) of Birmingham, Anne Westbrooke (Pablo) of Birmingham; two step-sons David Myers (Mary) of Birmingham, Bryan Myers (Lana) of Nashville; eight grandchildren Michael Bice, Caroline Bice, , Evan Mancer, Hannah Pearson (Cole), Scott Myers, Nate Myers, Corrie Myers, Nora Myers and one great grandson Samuel Pearson.
Louis was a member and elder of Briarwood Presbyterian Church. Over the past 39 years he served on numerous committees and in many leadership roles at Briarwood. He also served on the Board of Directors of Crosswinds Foundation for Faith and Culture for many years.
He graduated from Little Rock Central High School and tied for Valedictorian. Then went on to the University of Arkansas obtaining a B.S. in Accounting and later became a CPA.
Louis was born in Harlan, Kentucky on July 21, 1937 and moved to Little Rock, Arkansas at the age of 12. He played basketball and baseball through junior high and high school. He picked up golf at the age of 13 and continued on to play golf for the University of Arkansas. He was on the first team to win the Southwest Conference Championship in golf for the University of Arkansas. He had many wonderful memories from his golf. He loved the friends he made through his golf trips, one to Ireland, to play at the Gold Coast Golf Club. When he could no longer play, he said he didn’t miss the golf as much as he did the camaraderie.
Louis started his business career in the life insurance business first in Arkansas, then Texas and Alabama. He was transferred to Dallas, Texas from Birmingham to be president of Gibraltar Life Insurance Co. While he was in Dallas, he met and married his second wife, Sharon Myers Henderson. He then moved back to Birmingham to join Protective Life. He moved on to The Hackney Group, Wall Street Deli and then started Henderson & Associates which later became Henderson & Myers, when his son David Myers joined the company.
A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at Briarwood Church at a later date to be determined.
