Margie Smith, age 85, was born in Stringer, Mississippi. After graduating from junior college, she moved to Vicksburg, Mississippi to work for the YMCA. It was there she met her husband of 64 years, George Smith. They married in 1950 and later moved to Huntsville, Alabama in 1955, where they remained until moving to Dayton, Ohio in 1973. In 1980, they returned to Huntsville before moving to Birmingham in 1983 to be near their children and grandchildren. Margie was a charter member of Asbury United Methodist Church and member of the Wesley Sunday School Class. She is survived by her husband, George Smith; daughters, Cindy (Ham) Wilson, Pam (Tom) Buck, Phyllis (Warren) Hamm; son, Randy (Judy) Smith; grandchildren, Bradley (Richard) Sosebee, Hallie Wilson, Nancy Beth Wilson, Tommy Buck., John Buck, Hardie Buck, Will Hamm, George (Laura) Hamm, Laura Smith, David Smith; great grandchild, Ham Sosebee and another great grandchild on the way. Visitation will be at 10:00 AM and the funeral will be at 11:00 AM on Monday, March 31, 2014, at Southern Heritage Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Asbury United Methodist Church (6690 Cahaba Valley Road, Birmingham, Alabama 35242).
