While in junior high school and at South Philadelphia High School, Marie was a star basketball player, was Cinderella in the school play, and was crowned Miss Columbus Philadelphia. After graduation, she enrolled at the Maranella School of Cosmetology to complete requirements for her Pennsylvania Cosmetology License. Then, she was employed as a cosmetologist at Bernard's Salon.
In her leisure, Marie enjoyed playing basketball, roller skating, and singing in a girls group where she was a lead vocalist. At St. John's Catholic Church in Philadelphia, she volunteered many hours as a lay person.
Marie was a Donor of the Year with a local Wounded Veterans group. While she took great pride in her many civic involvements, she was especially proud of her family's recognition of her as Best Wife, Best Mother, Best Aunt, and Best Grandmother of A Lifetime.
Marie was predeceased by her parents, Anthony Perrupato and Dominica "Mamie" Perrupato.
Survivors include Marie's husband, Philip Weiner, to whom she was married on February 28, 1965; one son, David Weiner (Laurie); one granddaughter, Alessia; two sisters, Rita and Josephine; two brothers, John and Anthony; nephews and nieces, Michael Buccieri, Rita, Anita, John, Michael Perrupato, and Delores Perrupato; friends, Rosemarie Cianfrani, Jean and Jeremiah Castille, and too many others to mention; and our doggy, Homer.
Plans for a private family gathering are underway to celebrate Marie's life.
