

A graduate of Albertville High School, Russ earned his Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Alabama in 1974 and his Doctor of Dentistry Degree from UAB School Of Dentistry in 1979. In 1986, he earned an Executive Master of Business Administration Degree from the University of Alabama.
Russ worked as a staff dentist and faculty member at The Foundry Dental Center, a non-profit in Bessemer, Alabama. He was also faithful in volunteering his time with Cahaba Valley Dentistry at Cooper Green Mercy Hospital.
His favorite hobbies included tying fly fishing flies and daily Wordle. As a member of Meadow Brook Baptist Church in Shelby County, Alabama, even after moving to another area of town, he continued to feel that MBBC was his church family.
Russ is survived by his wife, Kathy M. Hogan Moultrie, whom he married on April 30, 1988; children, Emma Connally (Andrew) and Sarah Jacocks (Wells); step-son, Richard Nix; as well as Lele Croskey and her daughter Autumn Eatman, and Dwain Croskey and his sons, Caleb and Xaden. Russ is also survived by one sister, Susan Clemons (Don); two brothers, Frank Moultrie (Melissa) and Steve Moultrie (Julie); and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will greet friends on Friday, August 16, 2024, at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, Alabama from 6-7 p.m., followed by A Service of Remembrance for Russ at 7 p.m. at Ridout's Southern Heritage, Pelham.
On Saturday, August 17, 2024, there will be a graveside service at 10:30 a.m. at Memory Hill Cemetery in Albertville, Alabama, where the family will welcome friends to continue to celebrate Russ' life.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Shelby County Humane Society at www.shelbyhumane.org, to the Alabama Wildlife Center at www.alabamawildlifecenter.org, or to the charity of your choice.
