

Jane Bendall, affectionately known as Mimi, of Vestavia Hills, Alabama passed away peacefully on September 13th, 2019 with her family by her side. She was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma and resided in Alabama most of her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents Johns Clopton Long and Alma Smith Long of Florence, Alabama, her sister Joy Young, and her daughter Joy Lynn Bendall. Jane is survived by her husband of 67-1/2 years Albert Lee Bendall, son Steve Bendall (Sheila) and her loving granddaughters Emily Joy Bendall and Elizabeth Ann Bendall. She is also survived by her brothers in law (James Bendall, John Bendall and O.L. Doc Russell), sisters in law (Beth Ann Bendall and Patsy Bendall) as well as many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
She graduated Coffee High School in Florence, Alabama (1950) before attending Florence State College and graduating from A.P.I. (Auburn University) with a degree in Education in 1954. Jane had a successful professional career as a treasurer and owner of Heat Transfer Sales and Bendall and Company. She was also a cotton farmer and continued the legacy of her parents and grandparents with successful crops each season.
She was a long time member of Dawson Memorial Baptist Church and was an active member in the “Joy” Sunday School Class where she cherished friendships made and worshiping The Lord.
Jane enjoyed time with friends and family at the lake and beach, especially when it involved her granddaughters. She loved flowers and anything Auburn. She especially enjoyed continuing lifetime friendships and making new memories with her high school classmates at reunions.
She will always be remembered as a sweet Southern lady who loved and was devoted to her family and God, who always had a smile on her face, a kind word for everyone, a warm embrace, and a gift for making you feel that you were the most important person in the world.
Visitation will be Thursday, September 19th, 10-11 am with a service following at 11:00 am, Southern Heritage Funeral Home, 475 Cahaba Valley Road, Pelham, Alabama 35124. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Dawson Memorial Baptist Church or the Alabama Baptist Children’s Home.
