Mary C. Garnett

Mary Chenault Garnett of Birmingham, Alabama, went home to be with the Lord Jesus on February 26, 2021 at the age of 94. “Mary Jane” loved her family, her church, and most importantly, her savior Jesus Christ. She spent the first half of her life in Richmond, Virginia and was an active member of Bon Air Baptist Church. In 1978 her family moved to Birmingham, Alabama where she was a member of Shades Mountain Baptist Church until her death. Mary Jane had many talents and always enjoyed crocheting, sewing, crafting or working on her crossword puzzles. She loved gardening and her favorite place was in the yard planting, pruning or bird watching. She was married to her first love, Andrew Coolidge Garnett, for 61 years until he passed away on June 6, 2005. Mary Jane has two children who loved her dearly - Andrea Martin (Cecil) and Mark Garnett (Lynn); additionally, she has 7 grandchildren who called her “Neans” - Andrew Sharman, Pat Sharman (Emma), Laura Martin, Drew Martin (Nana), Hunter Garnett (Kimberly), Mitchell Garnett (Meagan) and Heather Kilgore (Connor), as well as 5 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Andrew Coolidge Garnett as well as her two brothers, Robert Chenault and Edward Chenault.

Mary Jane was buried at Southern Heritage Cemetery in Birmingham and honored with a private family graveside service on Tuesday, March 2, 2021.
