Mary Elizabeth Hames Jackson, 84, of Birmingham, passed from this earth on Monday, December 1, 2014. She was a beloved wife and mother who never met a stranger. Libby was a funny, generous and smart woman who loved and raised three accomplished children. She loved sweets and was fond of a good laugh. Her home smelled like good southern cooking, and there was always a dog wagging its tail to greet you. A recent reunion between Libby and her kids and their childhood friends, resulting in raucous laughter as old stories were retold of her beloved husband (Stanley B), weekends at Smith Lake, petty neighbor arguments, and Libby's mother's divine divinity. Libby died of a life well lived and a little bit of cancer.
She is survived by her two sons, Gregory Lynn and Davis Graham Jackson; daughter, Elizabeth Irvin Jackson; daughter-in-law, Lisa Marks Jackson; two granddaughters, Alexandra Michelle and Ava Elizabeth Jackson of Birmingham; and brother, William Moore Hames of Atlanta.
