Mary Nell Lockhart, age 81, of Hoover, passed away on February 4, 2021. She was born in Clanton, Alabama on June 24, 1939. Nell graduated as Valedictorian from Verbena High School and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from the Birmingham Baptist School of Nursing in 1959. She was married to Harold E. Lockhart, Sr. on December 2, 1961. Nell worked as a Registered Nurse at Chilton County and Shelby County Hospitals for over 40 years. She was an active member of Lakeside Baptist Church and had a passion for her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and loving and serving others, especially her family. She enjoyed cooking, spending time with her family, and supporting her grandchildren in their school and sports activities.
Mrs. Lockhart is survived by her daughter, Karen Lockhart Watkins (James); sons Harold E. "Hal" Lockhart, Jr., (Isabel); and Kim Alan Lockhart; grandsons Matthew Watkins, John Watkins, Ward Lockhart, III; and granddaughter Haley Lockhart.
A Celebration of Life service will be held for Mrs. Lockhart at 11:00 am on Monday, February 8, 2021, at Southern Heritage Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
