Mary Farrell Spivak

SPIVAK, MARY THERESA, age 86, of Birmingham, Alabama joined our Lord on July 19, 2012. She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, John Spivak, in 1998. She was a resident of Birmingham for the past 45 years and was retired from PEPSCO Financial Services where she worked alongside her husband. She was a longtime member of several Catholic churches in Birmingham, including Our Lady of Sorrows, St. Peter's, and St. Mark's. She was born on May 10, 1926 in Lawler, Iowa to George and Gertrude Farrell. She was preceded in death by siblings John Francis, Genevieve, Monica, Robert, George, Alphonsus, Joseph, Jerome, James and Margaret "Margo." Survivors include Mary's three children, Dr. Charles Spivak and wife Elaine of Birmingham, Patrick Spivak (who preceded her in death in October 2011) and his wife Kerri of Huntsville, Alabama, and daughter Shauna Burton and her husband Dr. Newt Burton of Birmingham; beloved grandchildren, Matthew, David, Anna and Jordan Spivak; and sisters, Pat Unti of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Mary Janz of Olympia, Washington. Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, July 25 at 11 a.m. at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church off Highway 119. Burial will be at Southern Heritage Cemetery in Pelham, Alabama.
