Michael Allen Russell

Michael Allen Russell was born March 2nd, 1952, to Mary Sue and C.G. “Pee-Wee” Russell in Birmingham, Alabama. Mike graduated from Erwin High School and Bell Haven University while raising his family with his wife Sharon Russell.

He was a founding partner of Valley Printing in Birmingham, Alabama. At the time of his passing, Mike was a member of Faith Presbyterian Church. He dedicated his life to church planting and discipleship within the Presbyterian Church in America and served as a faithful shepherd to all.

His hobbies included watching any sport, FaceTime with his Granddaughters, and studying the Word of God. He was known by his signature Kangol Hat and quiet strength.

Mike was the best husband, father, grandfather, brother, and mentor that anyone could ask for. He found great fulfillment in walking long and dark roads alongside those who needed a friend. His wisdom, wit, and grace was beloved by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He is greatly missed.

Mike joined the Lord on August 31st, 2025, and is survived by his wife Sharon Russell, sons David and Daniel (Katharine) Russell, and Grandchildren Madison, Mason (Allyson), Olivianna, and Evelyn.

A visitation will be held at Southern Heritage Funeral Home on Friday, September 5, from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 pm. Committal will be at 1:30 at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery; 6555 Cahaba Valley Road, Birmingham, Alabama 35242.
