

Nellie was the youngest of 11 children and was the first in her family to graduate from Pitkin High School in 1954 with the distinguished honor of being the class valedictorian.
Nellie married Donald Lincoln on August 31, 1954 in Clarinda, lowa. Their union was blessed with 4 children.
Nellie was a devoted member of Shades Mountain Baptist Church having moved to Birmingham from New Orleans with her family in 1970. Nellie had a tremendous love for children. She served in the church nursery and was the 2nd grade Sunday School director for many years. Nellie spent her time as a homemaker and raising her children with so much love. Together, Nellie and Donald participated in numerous mission trips as well as volunteering for the American Red Cross. She enjoyed camping and traveling as well as making many happy memories with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Nellie was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Donald Lincoln; her father, Daniel Webster Odom; mother, Isabel Johnson Odom; sister, Gladys Odom; brother, Randel Odom; sister, Gertrude Doyle; sister, Ruby West; sister, Audrey Vidrine; sister, Ethel Eason; brother, Dan Odom; brother, Albert Odom; sister, Melia James; brother, Elbert Odom.
Nellie is survived by her sons - Gary (Melissa) Lincoln of Pensacola, FL and Robby Lincoln of Birmingham, AL; her daughters - Debra (Ray) Blanton of Blountsville, AL and Sharon (Garrett) Neill of Birmingham, AL; her grandchildren Daniel (Jessica) Blanton, Christopher (Emily) Blanton, Emily (Leanne) Portera-Neill, Patrick (Daphne) Neill; and her great grandchildren Briley Blanton, Carter Blanton, Grayson Blanton and Carson Portera-Neill; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Southern Heritage Funeral Home on Friday, May 1, at 10:00 am followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am.
