

Patricia Sills Perrell (“Peggy”), 83, of Hoover, Alabama passed away peacefully on August 18, 2020. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 58 years, William Ronald Perrell, by her children Julie Perrell McLean (Bob) and Elisabeth Perrell Vinciguerra (Vince), by her six grandchildren Meghan Patricia Chambers, John William McLean, Robert Chalmers McLean, John Michael Chambers, Emily Elisabeth McLean, and Mary Cameron McLean, by her brother Dr. James G. Sills (Sheila), by her brother-in-law Charles William Kelley, by Meghan and John Michael’s father Tony Lynn Chambers, and by a host of nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her parents, Joseph Cornelius Sills, Jr. and Elisabeth Gaines Sills, by her infant son John William Perrell, by her infant grandson Edward Brian Chambers, and by her beloved sister Brenda Sills Kelley. Patricia graduated from Owensboro Catholic High School. She enjoyed being a homemaker and raising her daughters. Patricia was incredibly talented and creative. She spent her spare time painting lovely watercolors, sewing, ceramics, stenciling, and calligraphy. She was an avid tennis player and she also played the ukulele and organ. Patricia decorated the most beautiful Christmas trees and was an excellent cook. In 1979, she opened A Different Drummer in the Signature House at historic Cobb Lane in Birmingham. She always referred to her shop as a “miscellaneous” gift shop. With the encouragement of her husband, she opened a second “Drummer” in River Run Village. Patricia maintained these stores for eight years and she loved every minute associated with them! Patricia’s life was a life guided by a deep faith in Jesus Christ and an unwavering devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, August 27, 2020 at 10am at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, 2061 Patton Chapel Road, Hoover, AL. Due to the pandemic, there will be no visitation prior to or following the funeral Mass. Masks and physical distancing required. A private burial at the Alabama National Cemetery will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (stjude.org) or to a charity of your choice.
