Peggy Doss Dye, of Vestavia Hills, Alabama, passed away on February 3, 2025 at the age of 84. She is survived by daughters, Sherry (Jimmy) Parrish and Katherine (Wendell) Blount; six grandchildren: Taylor Shaw, Melissa (Kevin) Smith, Bradford (Jayne) Blount, Amy (Jeff) Corbitt, Jim (Deena) Parrish, and Meg (Kurt) Branch; nine great grandchildren: Avery Smith, Peyton Smith, Jake Corbitt, Brooke Corbitt, Blakely Parrish, Jack Branch, Abby Parrish, Charlie Branch, and Maggie Parrish; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Dye was born March 10, 1940 in Birmingham, Alabama to Mildred and Ernest Doss. Even during her early years Peggy was a strong-willed and determined leader. She graduated with honors in 1957 from West End High School in Birmingham, Alabama where she met and married the love of her life, Charles Dye. They were married for 64 years before his passing in 2021. Charles was rough and tough, and Peggy was lady-like and dressed to the nines. She was devoted to her husband, her daughters and her home and gave her best in every endeavor.
In 1962 Peggy and her husband, Charles, founded the company, Paramount Services, Incorporated, a multi-state linen rental corporation. Her gifts of organization, accounting, and attention to detail provided a strong foundation for the company to grow and thrive. Peggy was the perfect complement to Charles, as he was for her; together, they were unstoppable in their vision and success.
Mrs. Dye used her gifts and business position as opportunities to bless and support others, especially as it related to her church, Dawson Memorial Baptist. Peggy served on the personnel committee, regularly supplied linens for church events, cleaned robes for the church choir, and freely gave of her time and resources to serve in local and overseas mission projects. She was known for her gift of hospitality in all areas of her life, and loved to entertain. Peggy planned and organized each event and gathering with an eye on every little detail to insure perfection and success. Her ultimate joy came from being a part of the church choir and singing on Sunday mornings.
A memorial service honoring Peggy Dye will be held at Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, Alabama on Thursday, February 13, 2025 at noon preceded by visitation from
11:00 to 12:00.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to the music ministry at Dawson Memorial Baptist Church, 1114 Oxmoor Road, Homewood, Alabama, 35209.
