She was born June 16, 1932 in the Central Park neighborhood to the late William David Cox and Nina Mae Cox (née Albright). Peggy was a lifelong resident of the Birmingham area. She graduated from Ensley High School with the class of 1950. In 1953, she married Bill Hinton with whom she had two daughters.
Being a grandmother and great-grandmother was the highlight of her life. She also loved spending time with her Sunday school class at Meadow Brook Baptist Church. And she met regularly for lunch with her high school graduating class. She was an avid bridge player who loved to entertain, but her favorite way to spend time was surrounded by family at her beach house in Destin, Florida.
Peggy was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, William Edward Hinton, and her daughter Elizabeth Hinton Martin. She leaves behind her daughter Ginger Hinton Edwards (John), 3 grandchildren, Christina Martin Robinson (Levi), David Edwards (Jacqui), and Kate Edwards, 2 great-grandchildren James and Christian Robinson, her sister Billie Jo Day (Wallace), niece Kris Beatty (Ken), and nephew Mike Day (Lynn).
Peggy lived a full life as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. She will be forever remembered in our hearts.
For the health and safety of family and friends, we will be scheduling a memorial service to honor her life at a date to be determined later. Memorial contributions may be made to Meadow Brook Baptist Church. An online guestbook with photos celebrating the life of Bill and Peggy can be viewed at www.southernheritagefunerals.com
