

Peggy Laura Henderson Williams was born on January 20, 1951, to the union of Willard D. Henderson and Elle Rae Henderson in the city of Marion, AL. She attended McAdory High School class of 1969. She later graduated from University of Texas at San Antonio with a BA in psychology. After that she attended UAB and graduated with a masters in rehabilitation counseling.
Peggy was a member of Bluff Park UMC where she attended with her husband, Wayne Williams, who is a retired Methodist minister.
Peggy was united in holy matrimony with Wayne Williams on June 27, 1969 in Bessemer, AL. Their union was blessed with two children, Carolyn Renee Holden and Kevin Wayne Williams and they also raised a nephew, Michael Wayne Henderson. Six grandchildren; William Seth Latham, Nicholas Scott Blozik, Alicia Ann Walker, Blake Henderson, Richard Henderson, Alex Henderson and one great-grandchild, Lincoln Wade Walker.
Peggy was married to her husband Wayne during the 30 years they proudly served their country in the United States Air Force. Wayne served as an enlisted person for ten years, after which he attended Seminary in New Orleans, was commissioned as a Chaplain and Retired as a Chaplain.
She was employed in multiple social service settings including group home programs for adults, delinquent youth, and children's home settings. She was a member of the American Counseling Association. She was a licensed professional counselor who was qualified for counseling supervision. She completed her career working in a mental health setting as a therapist and program director at Cahaba Center for Mental Health.
Peggy had many hobbies and interests. She wrote two books that were genealogies of her family and the area in which they lived. She enjoyed photography and published three children's books utilizing this skill. She loved the outdoors and was a member of the Audubon society and a local hiking group. She was learning to do poetry.
She is preceded in death by her father, Willard Devota Henderson, her mother, Ella Rae Henderson; brothers, Dwight Henderson and Richard Henderson. She is survived by her husband, Wayne Williams; her children and grandchildren and by one brother, Ralph Henderson, who lives in San Antonio, TX.
She has been adopted into the family of God through her faith in Jesus Christ.
Visitation will be held at Bluff Park UMC, 733 Valley St., Hoover, AL 35226 on Monday, February 27, 2023 at 10 AM. The funeral service will begin at 11 AM and will be conducted by Rev. Kevin Payne. Burial will follow at Alabama National Cemetery, in Montevallo, AL at 1:15 PM.
