
Ray Ernest Taylor, age 88, went to his heavenly home on December 13, 2020. Ray was born on December 6, 1932 in Fairmont, Georgia to Robert Buel and Pearl Marks Taylor. He grew up in Atlanta, Georgia where he graduated from Brown High School in 1949 and studied electronics at a technology/trade school before being drafted into the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Serving in the Signal Corps, he was stationed at Camp Gordon in Augusta, Georgia.
Ray met his wife Barbara Hicks at Beulahland Baptist Church where he taught Sunday school and played the piano. They were married in 1956. He was retired from General Motors where he worked for 30 years. He was a member of Mt Pisgah Baptist Church in Austell, Georgia where he lived until relocating to Birmingham, Alabama in 2000 after the death of his wife.
His hobbies and passions were Bible study, Theology, Southern Gospel music, and playing checkers.
Ray was predeceased by his parents, his wife Barbara, and his older brothers Glenn and Herman Taylor. He is survived by his children, Cynthia Taylor Day (John), Calvin Douglas Taylor (Sherry), and Stephen Mark Taylor (Karla), 9 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren.
A private funeral for family will be held on Saturday, January 2 at Beulahland Baptist Church in Rockmart , Georgia.
