Reba Mae Day Huffman of Homewood, Alabama passed away Tuesday morning. She was 84. Reba was born in Connelly Springs, North Carolina to Lilla McNeely Day and Thomas Hamilton Day. She graduated from Valdese High School in Valdese, North Carolina before earning her associate's degree from Mars Hill College in Mars Hill, North Carolina. On October 20, 1951, she married Everett L. Huffman in Connelly Springs. After moving to the Birmingham, Alabama area, she became a member of the Highland Raquet Club Tennis Team and the Homewood Senior Citizens Group. Reba was preceded in death by her parents; husband Everett; one sister, Caroleen Rector; and three brothers, Brevard Day, Grady Day, and Garva Day. Survivors include Reba's children, Gary Huffman (Sandy), Allan Huffman (Lynn), and Donna Summerville (Joseph); grandchildren, Ryan Huffman (Leah), Lauren Dotson (fiance, Trent Dotson), Sara Huffman, John Huffman, Leigh Huffman, and Brendan Summerville; two great-grandchildren, Colton and Finley; two sisters, Kathleen Hoyle and Willadean Rector; and one brother, Troy Day. Visitation will be one hour before the 11 a.m. funeral service Monday, February 10, 2014 at Shades Valley Lutheran Church, Birmingham. Burial, Southern Heritage Cemetery, Pelham. Pastor Dan Dahl and Rev. Joseph Summerville, officiating.
