AVIS DE DÉCÈS

Rebecca Yancey McBride

4 janvier 1929 – 20 décembre 2025
Avis de décès de Rebecca Yancey McBride
AUX SOINS DE

Southern Heritage Funeral Home & Cemetery

Rebecca (Becky) Yancey McBride, 96, passed away December 20, 2025. Born January 4, 1929, in Golden, Mississippi, to Jesse Mae Creech and John Homer Yancey, Becky grew up in Red Bay, Alabama. She was the third of four children. Bright and well-known in her community, she was an exceptional student, talented pianist, majorette, and her high school's valedictorian. Becky attended Alabama College for Women, now University of Montevallo, and later worked as a medical technologist at Highlands Hospital in Birmingham.

She met her husband, Vance, on a blind date, and after a year of courting, they married and enjoyed sixty-five wonderful years together until his passing in 2015. They raised five children: Becky, Debbie, Johnny, Lee, and Amy.

Though she had the talent for a lengthy career in science, Becky devoted herself to motherhood. She was the welcoming mother to her children's many friends-always opening her door, offering food, care, and a place to belong. She was deeply involved in every aspect of her children's lives: PTA, carpool, Bible School, Girl Scouts, sports teams, cheerleading, and chaperone for countless school trips. Her love was abundant and freely given to her family, friends, and children's friends.

Becky and Vance were active members of Avondale United Methodist Church. They poured their time and energy into building and sustaining their church community. They both sang in the choir, and Becky also played the piano for various Sunday schools and children's choirs and programs. Through these many church service projects grew lifelong friendships. Becky's faith guided her life. She lived her values and instilled those values in her children.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Vance, her first child, Becky McBride Ferguson (Scott), and her siblings, Dorothy Hughes, and J.C. Yancey. She is survived by her sister, Mary McKinney, children, Debbie Mathews (Larry), John McBride (Betsy), Lee McBride, Amy Ward (Wes), grandchildren, Erin Snow Yarbrough (Will), A.J. Powell (Amanda), Yancey McBride Taunton (Kyle), Samantha Ward (Seth), Corey Ferguson, and Keegan Ferguson, 8 great-grandchildren, and 5 nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff of Columbiana Health and Rehabilitation and also, her hospice nurse, Debbie Holden, for their loving care of Rebecca over the last 6 years.

A family service will be held on December 27. She will be buried in Red Bay, Alabama. Donations in Becky's memory should be made to the charity of your choice.

She will be greatly missed but is forever in our hearts.
