

Richard Allen Shealy Sr., age 80, of Birmingham, Alabama (North Shelby County) passed away on March 4, 2018. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Robbie Chastain Shealy, and their four children, Richard Shealy Jr. (Sherry), Randy Shealy (Marlene), Rhonda Williams (Mark), and Rachelle Talley (Stephen). Nine grandchildren: Ashley Turner, Lauren Baker (Josh), Emily Selleck (Joey), Mary Katherine Shealy, Mollie Shealy, Cassidy Williams, Ryan Talley, Grayson Talley, and Preston Talley. Two great grandchildren: Bailey Turner and Harper Turner. One brother, Lewis Clinton Shealy Jr. (Bettie) and a brother-in-law James Jolly. He was preceded in death by his parents Lewis Clinton Shealy and Bessie Horton Shealy, his brother Lavon Shealy, and his sister Carolyn Shealy Jolly. He was born May 18, 1937 in Newton County, Mississippi and moved to Alabama at the age of four. He attended Jones Valley High School and the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He retired from U.S. Steel (Sales) after 42 years. He served as a Board Member of Landmark Credit Union. He served in the 117 Air National Guard and was called to active duty during the Berlin Crisis. He also served as a Scoutmaster for many years. He was a faithful member of Christ Church United Methodist. He loved traveling with his wife Robbie to various parts of the world. He enjoyed golfing, boating, fishing, and spending time outdoors at the lake. The "Celebration of His Life Service" will be held on March 8, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. at Christ Church United Methodist on Caldwell Mill Road. Visitation at 10:30 a.m. until the service at noon. There will be a private burial service at Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo.
