Rita Broomall Day

November 2, 1933 – April 8, 2017 - Rita Broomall Day, 83, of Birmingham, AL, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 8, 2017. She was preceded in death by her parents Ruth Shelby Broomall and James Morris Broomall. She is survived by her husband, James Robert Day (GA), her daughter, Kristin Day Landers and her husband Phillip (AL), grandchildren Matthew Phillip and Caleb James Landers; and her sister JoAnn Broomall Duke (FL).

Mrs. Day was born in Birmingham and attended Ramsay High School where she was a majorette. After graduation, she began her career working for the Dinkler-Tutwiler hotel as an executive assistant and event planner and was subsequently hired at the Parliament House as Sales Manager. She married James Robert Day in October of 1968 and they welcomed their daughter, Kristin Anne, in November of 1969. They were married for 48 years until her passing. Rita was a loving wife and mother who will be greatly missed, but her faith was in the Lord Jesus Christ to save her and she is now free from the affliction of Alzheimer’s and lung cancer, full of joy at home in Heaven with her Savior.

A graveside service will be held at the Alabama National Cemetery at 3133 Highway 119, Montevallo, 35115 on Wednesday, April 12 at 10:15 AM.
