

Robert Gordon Cleveland, 87, of Pelham, Alabama, passed away on December 1, 2025. He was born to Arthur J. and Grace Marie Cleveland on May 12, 1938, in Chicago, Illinois. Bob graduated from Broad Ripple High School and then went on to start a career in the commercial insurance industry, and would retire after 50 years. Bob was a faithful member of Pelham First Baptist Church, where he and his wife Peggy mentored countless individuals and enjoyed serving as deacon at the church. He served on the Pelham City Council from 1980 to 1984, where he cherished the many relationships he formed within the community. Bob was a lover of old cars; he enjoyed restoring them with his two sons. He had a love of music, whether it was playing the banjo or harmonizing with his friends in a barbershop quartet. His greatest loves were his family and his faith in Christ.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur J. and Grace Marie Cleveland; loving wife of 61 years, Peggy Sue Cleveland; brother, Arthur James Cleveland Jr. He leaves behind his children, Brian Cleveland (Natalin), Brad Cleveland (Connie) Grandson, Matthew Cleveland (Kami), granddaughter, Meredith Whiten (Alston), great-grandchildren, Mac, Liam, Artie, Ainsley Cleveland, Aiden, and Micah Whiten.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Missions fund at Pelham First Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends on Monday, December 8, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Pelham First Baptist Church, with a service to follow at 11:00 am
