Ron is survived by his wife of 45 years, Kathy H. Britton; children, Heather McGuire (Patrick), H. Bray Britton (Mary Claire), and Noel Taylor Britton (Missy); grandchildren, Zoe, James, Miles, Ralph, and Van; step-grandchildren, Jordan and Brent McCaleb; and sister and brother-in-law, Rhonda and Tom Gallaspy.
Ron retired from Altec Industries in Birmingham after 43 years at the same company from which his father retired. Ron's product knowledge, attention to detail, and sense of humor endeared him to customers and made him a valuable partner of the sales team.
He had many interests and hobbies throughout his life. They included motorcycling, fishing, boating, and all things Lake Martin where his family spent many happy times (and where he saved his dad many times from launching the boat without the plug)!
Ron will be missed by all who love him and who have been recipients of his can do attitude and never ending humorous quips. Family and friends, when asked for a favorite Ron memory, typically answer with funny stories of his natural talent for comedy. We will keep those memories close and re-tell our own favorites at every gathering.
A private family memorial will be held at a future date.
Donations in Ron's memory can be made to the invaluable group at Canterbury Methodist Church which supports caregivers for loved ones with Alzheimer's:
