

Mr. Watkins was born in Pell City, Alabama on June 22, 1928, and was a life-long resident of the Birmingham, Alabama area. He graduated from West End High School before serving his country with pride in the U.S. Army National Guard. He was a Realtor Emeritus with over 45 years in the real estate business.
Mr. Watkins lived his life by the Word of the Lord. He was a member of Berney Points Baptist Church since 1938.
He was preceded in death by his loving and devoted wife, Margaret Riley Watkins, and two brothers, Williams Robert "Bob" Watkins and Richard "Dick" Andrew Watkins.
Survivors include Mr. Watkins' loving children, Greg Watkins (Selena), Andy Watkins (Debbie), Margaret "Ginny" Posey, and Amy Valentine (Clay); nine grandchildren, Mathew Watkins, O.C. Watkins (Susannah), Chance Watkins, Danielle Filmore (Ray), David Watkins (Cassidy), Nicole Posey, Josh Posey, Carl-Edward Valentine (fiance Payton), and Clay-Riley Valentine (Kristen); and eight great-grandchildren, Brooklyn Watkins, Will Davis Watkins, Alston Posey Trubig, Braxton Henry, Kenlyn Henry, Brinlyn Henry, Aubrey Filmore, William Valentine, and baby Filmore.
The family of Ed Watkins will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, Alabama, immediately followed by A Remembrance Service at 11 a.m. at the funeral home's chapel to celebrate the well-lived life of this faithful servant. Burial will be at Southern Heritage Cemetery, Pelham. Brother Anton Fourie will officiate, and active pallbearers will be Ray Filmore, Josh Posey, Carl-Edward Valentine, Clay-Riley Valentine, Chance Watkins, David Watkins, Mathew Watkins, and O.C. Watkins.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Berney Points Baptist Church, 2250 Blue Ridge Blvd., Hoover, AL 35226.
