Sandra "Sandy" Moore Waldrop

Mrs. Sandra “Sandy" Moore Waldrop went to be with our Lord and Savior on October 8, 2017 in Birmingham, AL at the age of 70. Anyone who knew her knew that Sandy loved God first and above all else. She was an amazing mother, grandmother, and friend who truly loved her family and friends, and had an enormous heart for others. She knew the importance of the Father's love and freely gifted this love to everyone.

Sandy was born on February 16, 1947 in Birmingham to Ola and Howard Moore. She graduated from the University of Alabama in 1971 with a degree in Education. Sandy has worked the past 27 years at Pizitz Middle School in Vestavia Hills. She loved her job and her "Pizitz family" and her presence will be sorely missed around the school.

Sandy is survived by her children, Mike Waldrop (Emily) from Auburn, Wendy Waldrop Piazza (Jonathan) from Birmingham, Brooke Waldrop Wilson (Jonathan) from Lakeland, Florida, and grandchildren Trent Waldrop (14), Tanner Waldrop (12), Mallory Waldrop (9), Angelo Piazza (10) Peyton Piazza (8), Mia Piazza (5), Wyatt Wilson (4) and Collins Wilson (3). She is preceded in death by her parents Ola and Howard Moore of Gardendale and her sister Carolyn Brown of Tuscaloosa.

We take comfort in knowing that Sandy has gone home to be with the Lord and her other family members. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Lakeside Baptist Church Children's Ministry.

A small, family burial will be held at Southern Heritage on the morning of October 12, 2017. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 4:00 pm at Lakeside Baptist Church with a visitation 2 hours prior to the service.
