Sherry Hodnett Green

Sherry was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ and a longtime member of Valleydale Church in Birmingham. Her faith was central to her life and brought her great joy and purpose. She attended the University of Alabama and spent most of her life living and working in Birmingham. Sherry had a deep love for music and shared her talents by playing the piano and organ, bringing comfort and inspiration to those around her.

She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Michael Henry Green of Birmingham, Alabama; her two daughters, Jennifer Key (Jim) of Indian Springs Village, Alabama, and Amy Callin (Jason) of Chelsea, Alabama; her cherished grandchildren, Alex Key (Avery), Chandler Key, Makenzie Key, Brody Callin, and Harper Callin; and her sister-in-law, Sandy Smith of Haddock, Georgia. Sherry was preceded in death by her parents, Percy Howard Hodnett and Blanche Helen Hodnett; her brother, G.L. Smith Jr.; and her sister, Marcelyn Smith.

The family will receive friends Monday, February 3, 2025 at Valleydale Church, Birmingham from 12 noon to 1 p.m., followed by A Celebration of Sherry's Life at 1 p.m. at the church, 2324 Valleydale Road, Birmingham, AL 35244. Burial will be at Southern Heritage Cemetery in Pelham, Alabama.

Sherry’s legacy of faith, music, and love for her family will continue to inspire those who knew her. May her faith in Jesus Christ and the memories you share of her bring comfort to all who mourn her passing.
