Shirley Ann Venz, age 94, of Pompano Beach, Florida and Pelham, Alabama, passed peacefully from this life to her heavenly forever home on December 26, 2025. She was born in Oil City, Pennsylvania to Roy and Clara Fetters on May 25, 1931, and graduated from Ironton High School (Ohio).
Choosing business school over college, Shirley found secretarial work at Marathon Oil in Findlay, Ohio to be her happy place. On August 31, 1952, she married her high school sweetheart, William Eugene Venz. During her husband's Navy enlistment, they enjoyed living in Rhode Island and Pensacola, Florida until settling in Kettering, Ohio before moving to Pompano Beach in 1968 with their two daughters.
Shirley's joy was found in being a stay at home mom and homemaker until later when she returned to a secretarial position at Hunter Douglas Blinds, which she dearly loved until retiring at 65. She simultaneously took delight in volunteering at Holy Cross Hospital for many years.
Shirley's true passion was her love for her family and for Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior! She cherished meeting new people and was an encouragement to so many in her long life. Bible studies were a treasured pastime.
Shirley is survived by her two daughters, Kristina King (Peter) and Traci Carignan (Michael); six beloved grandchildren, Sarah Downs (Noah), Hannah Hogan (Matthew), Kelly Lange (Daniel), Noah King, Jonah Carignan, and Chloe Carignan; and six great-grandchildren, Kennedy Downs, Jacob Downs, Parker Downs, Rose Hogan, Jack Hogan, Lydia Lange, and two more great-grandchildren on the way.
Shirley is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bill Venz, in 2017.
The gravesite committal service and interment will be at 1 p.m. EST on January 21, 2026 at South Florida National Cemetery in Wellington.
