Silvia Bucio Rodriguez

Silvia Bucio Rodríguez, aka Shina, was born in Michoacan, Mexico on August 13, 1966. She passed away like a warrior on the morning of Friday, May 16, 2025 after battling with cancer for almost six months.

Silvia's family will visit with friends on Thursday, May 22, 2025 from 6-8 p.m. at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home, 475 Cahaba Valley Road, Pelham, AL 35124. The Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, May 23, 2025 at 11 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 80 St. Thomas Way, Montevallo, AL 35115.

Up until her last days, Silvia maintained her kindnesses, grace, compassion, appreciation of beauty, love of family and friends, and expressed gratitude for her life. Full of wonderful and varied experiences, her life can best be encapsulated by five “F” words: Family, Friends, Flowers, Food, and Fun.

Silvia had three daughters from her first marriage: Adela Yuliana Bautista Bucio (38 years old), Lorena Bautista Bucio (34 years old), and Mariela Bautista Bucio (33 years old). She had another two children from her present marriage: Erica Lopez Bucio (20 years old) and Eduardo F. Lopez Bucio (16 years old).

Silvia spent the first 36 years of her life in Mexico and moved to the USA in 2003. She lived in the Pelham/Alabaster, Alabama area ever since. Everyone who knows her knows the kindness of her heart as she always looks out for others.

Cooking was one of Silvia's biggest passions. She gained recognition from many people and restaurants for her delicious tamales and her unique mole rojo. Silvia loved her rose garden in which she spent many afternoons. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren: Evelyn Velez, Uziel Colin, Melissa Gonzalez, Lorena Gonzalez, Mattheo Lopez, and Elias Lopez.

Among Silvia's favorite hobbies was to gather, make food and celebrate with friends . . . She loved celebrating holidays, birthdays, or any special occasion.

Silvia will be greatly missed by the community, her family, and her many friends. She will always be remembered for her kind smile. Rest in Peace, Silvia Bucio.
