

SUTTON, SONYA CAMILLE, of Center Point, Alabama, passed away on Thursday, May 9, 2013. Sonya was born on March 9, 1969 in San Mateo County, California to Mrs. Joan W. Wilson and Mr. Sampson Wilson. She graduated from Ensley High School in 1987 and later earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Human Resource Management from Faulkner University. She was continuing her education at the University of Alabama at Birmingham working toward a degree in English. Sonya was a faithful member of the Church of God where she was dedicated to the ongoing support of God's truth. She was a Program Manager in the Department of Medicine, Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at University of Alabama at Birmingham. Sonya was an incredible person and loved spending time with her beautiful daughter, Lela Angielene (Angie) Sutton. She never met a stranger and had a smile that would warm the heart of every person she met. Although an illness impacted her life, she was a warrior for God and she stood firm in her convictions for what is right. She always saw the good in everything and everyone. Sonya leaves to cherish her memories her loyal and loving daughter, Lela Angielene (Angie) Sutton; her devoted mother, Joan W. Wilson of Center Point; father, Sampson Wilson of California; loving grandparents, Samuel L. and Lois F. Brown of Milton, Florida; uncles, Don B. Brown of Milton, Florida, Rodney L. Brown of California, and Keith Brown of Birmingham, Alabama; and a host of cousins, family members, and friends. Visitation will be from 12 noon until the 1 p.m. Celebration Service on Saturday, May 18, 2013 in the chapel of Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, Alabama. Pastor W.J. Weatherby will officiate. Burial will follow in Southern Heritage Cemetery, Pelham.
