Thomas E. Cody

Thomas E. Cody, age 83, entered into eternal life Tuesday, August 9, 2023, with his family by his side. Born in Indiana, Thomas was raised in Birmingham, AL. He was the son of the late Elmer Cody and Thelma Cody Odom. Thomas was a Christian, believer in Jesus Christ. He was a member of Central Park Baptist Church and attended Briarwood Presbyterian Church in his later years.

Devoted husband of Lana N. Cody of 58 years. Dedicated brother to the late James P. Cody (Joan), Eugene J. Cody (Donna, late), and Luther E. Odom, Jr. (Linda) and steadfast to all of his sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and friends. Loving uncle to many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

During a long and progressive career, Thomas worked at US Steel for 38 years. He was a meticulous worker and took pride in his job. He had the admiration of his crew members at US Steel and his family. He was a US Army National Guard Veteran. Thomas was an avid model train collector. In his retirement, he would spend hours designing, wiring, and operating the trains. He loved showing his nieces and nephews how to work the trains.

The family will receive visitors at Southern Heritage Funeral Home on Thursday, August 17, 2023, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, 475 Cahaba Valley Road, Pelham, AL 35124, followed by a funeral service from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
