

Tom E. Levins, of Hendersonville, NC, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 31, 2015 at the age of 74. Tom is survived by his wife of 50 years, Monique H. Levins; his children, Teresa Garner (David) and David Levins (Greta); his grandchildren, Jonathon D. Garner (Carolline), Annabeth Garner, Hannah Levins and Mario Levins; his brother, Jim Levins (Sara Nan) of Opelika, AL; his Mother-in-Law, Elizabeth Englebert of Montgomery, AL. Tom is preceded in death by his father, Thomas “Watson” Levins and his mother, Lois Smith Levins, both of Titus, AL.
Tom was born on January 31, 1941 in Titus, AL. Tom graduated from Wetumpka High School in 1959 and then entered the United States Army where he was trained as an x-ray technologist and served his country for 4 years. After being honorably discharged from the U.S. Army, Tom was married to Monique H. Levins in 1965. After settling in Montgomery, AL, Tom went to work for Jackson Hospital in the Radiology Department as an x-ray technologist. Eventually, Tom was promoted to the position of administrator of the Radiology Department at Jackson Hospital, which is the position at which he retired. In 1987, Tom also started and operated a medical billing firm, Professional Billing, Inc., which he operated independently for 22 years.
In 2005, Tom and Monique retired to a beautiful mountain home (Tom’s Retirement Dream) in Hendersonville, NC, where they made many friends of whom he loved.
Tom was a selfless man to his family, giving of his time and dedicated to being a loving husband and wonderful father and grandfather to his children and grandchildren. Tom was also an accomplished businessman and a well-respected member of the city of Montgomery, AL. He was known as a dedicated employee, a generous boss and a man that cared for people and their circumstances. Tom was a member of Frazer UMC in Montgomery, AL.
Visitation with the family is scheduled for November 6, 2015 in the Main Sanctuary at Frazer UMC at 10:00 AM with a memorial service to follow at 11:00 AM. All are welcome to attend and celebrate the life of Tom E. Levins. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to a charity that Tom believed in and supported which is operated by a close friend in Hendersonville, NC. This charity offers reparative eye operations to the underprivileged in India: Vision Express, C/O Rug and Home of Asheville, 799B Brevard Road, Asheville, NC 28806, (828) 667-4585 (a 501c3 Corp). The family would like to thank all the family members and friends that offered the prayers and concern during this time, as well all the caregivers and hospital staff for their care.
