

William Oversteegen Bond, 31, of Birmingham, Alabama died peacefully in his sleep from a heart attack in the early morning hours of Tuesday, August 2, 2016. He was found by his brother, Andy, that morning at his Homewood, Alabama apartment after not showing up for a canoe trip on the Cahaba River.
Born in Birmingham to Lex Oversteegen and Meredith Bond on December 15, 1984, William graduated from Hoover High School and attended Auburn University before graduating with a Masters Degree in Math from the University of Alabama in Birmingham. Discovering an aptitude for sharing math, he taught at UAB and Birmingham Southern College.
William's greatest enjoyments were his family, friends, teaching and the outdoors. He currently loved his job teaching AP math classes at the Alabama School of Fine Arts. He was a gentle, smart, funny man, loved by everyone.
William is survived by his parents; sister, Adrienne Koda (David) of Montgomery, Alabama; brother, Andrew Bond (Lauren White) of Pelham, Alabama; nieces and nephew, Alexandra, Harmony and Blaise Koda; special friend and mentor, Dr. John Mayer; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and devoted friends.
The family will visit with friends 4-7 p.m., Friday, September 9, 2016, Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home, Pelham, Alabama. The memorial service will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, September 10, 2016 at Ridout's Southern Heritage Chapel, followed by a reception. The family welcomes everyone to honor William's memory by wearing beach casual dress at all of the activities.
