When we think of William, we remember good times and laughter.  He had a way of bringing people "inside"; for lack of a better word, William made everyone feel loved.  (I'm smiling as I imagine his reaction to that statement.)  The world is colder without him, but warmer for his memory.

So extremely sad to hear about the loss of William.  I will be forever grateful to have been given the time with him at Matt & Julie's in May.  He made me laugh so hard while telling the story about his journey from Alabama to Michigan with his Sister in his first brand-new car.  Adrienne and William playfully bantered back and forth about his strict new car rules.  He also talked about being a Math Team Sponsor for his students and it was very obvious that he had an unlimited passion for teaching and interacting with the kids.  The world will be a better place having had William and all he stood for in it. William, you will be forever loved and missed by so many.

William was one of my earliest friends.  In my life, William was an example of fierce loyalty and devotion, always willing to give his all for his loved ones.  He was slow to anger (he had to be with a friend like me) so that when we disagreed he taught me how to step back and look at a problem through someone else's eyes.  These qualities made him a wonderful teacher as well as a true friend.  So even though he may not be with us now, I am convinced that his memory will live on through those whose lives he touched.  He is dearly missed and will never be forgotten.  Till we meet again.

We knew William his entire life.

William possessed a unique combination of a gifted intellect coupled with a warm, kind demeanor. We enjoyed William's company, particularly his humor, good cheer, and wonderful sense of humility. 

Hearing his students today made us appreciate just how well William was doing at ASFA. He was continuing to discover his potential while also finding a meaningful career that he genuinely enjoyed and which contributed so much to others. 

We will remember fondly the times we shared, particularly during Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, and will miss him dearly.

Basic show business axiom is always leave them wanting more. Certainly we all want more of William. My world is a better place for him. I will always wish for more.

Mr. Bond was one of my favorite teachers. He was kind, understanding, patient, and a great person to be around. I will miss him dearly.

William not only taught my son at ASFA but he became a friend. William was a caring and thoughtful person with a good sense of humor. He not only taught math but helped his students to become better people. I will always remember the good times we had at Mu Alpha Theta and other ASFA events. William is missed by all of us.

I can't believe he is gone.  He was such a kind person, and so smart.  He will be missed greatly.

What an amazing young man, your William was.  He found his career that made him happy.  Many people work decades and never accomplish that.  
We didn't know William well, but by what we have seen, he often was smiling or laughing.  He seemed to enjoy life so much.

We so appreciated Mr. Bond as a teacher and role model for our son. Jacob and his classmates at ASFA adored him and we're sad he is gone from this world too soon. My deepest sympathies to his family.

Mr. Bond was my daughter's Math and Statistics teacher at ASFA. He was loved by all his students because of his sense of humor which helped to reduce the anxiety and stress of being in high school. The memory of him humorously reading out the essays written by the seniors in their ASFA applications at the senior luncheon, will stay with me forever.  I can imagine that his passing has left a huge void at ASFA. I offer my deepest condolences and prayers to his family, friends, colleagues and students. May his soul rest in peace.

I had Mr. Bond as my math teacher for 2 years. He always found a way to make us laugh and make the subject fun, and that is something I will miss about him. It was an honor to know him, and even though he may be physically gone, he will always be with us in spirit.

William was a very kind, generous, and lively person.  Every time I saw him he made me feel welcome and included, and it was always incredibly fun. I can't believe he is gone. Will was a great friend and a brother to me during our time at Auburn. Wicked smart and the most caring & selfless person I can think off. I'll always remember the great outdoors that him and Andy helped me discover and all those adventures. I cant believe im writing this, the world seems much darker now. William was such a kind, intelligent and witty student in Hoover High School's math team classes. I am so happy to hear that he continued to study math and share his knowledge and compassion with high school students. My heart is heavy with the news of his death. I will continue to remember you all in my prayers.

William was such a great friend and loved by so many.  He was incredibly smart, funny, and caring.  You could always count on him to tell the best stories and give the best hugs.  Growing up with him and his family in my life was a blessing.  He will be missed.

   William, as a little boy, only 'big chips' would do -- no 'single serving' for young Will.  And, when circumstances required, you were (magically) tall enough to ride with the big kids at Michigan Adventure.  Summers at Pioneer Park will never be forgotten, so important are they to how we'll remember you.
   There are too many miles between Pittsburgh, Alabama, and Michigan, and we watched you grow up from a distance.  The entries in this guest book from peers, students, and colleagues -- people we will never know, but who saw you every day -- help us more deeply appreciate the terrific young man you became, and for that we thank all those who share their thoughts and words here.  
   William, sadly, you weren't granted a long life, but the one you lived was rich with family, friends, experiences, loyalty and love -- more than many who live much longer lives will ever know.  For that we're grateful, but it won't make us miss you any less.

We are still in state of shock. We still cannot believe William is no longer with us. He is gone too soon. I always enjoyed William's friendship and professional companionship. I was shocked and saddened to hear of his passing.

I thought when I left his statistics class and began to take his linear algebra class, he was just my favorite teacher. After having him for one and a half years I realized he was one of my best friends. He would let me stay in his class after school and talk to me about my day or the upcoming week. He was such an caring person who wanted to make everyone feel welcome. My senior class was a bit of a handful yet he loved having us and made everyone feel so special. Between his concerns on the puffiness of his sleeves to the colorful striped rainbow of shirts he wore to the savage comebacks  he gave in class, I will always remember the time spent with him fondly. He has made a lasting impact on all of his students. He will live on forever through his army.

My daughter was in his class last school year. She always remarked about how kind he was to students and about the respect he showed for them. She was so honored to join the Mu Alpha Theta honor society as a dance major. Mr. Bond encouraged everyone across all departments to love math. We are so sorry for his passing. My heart aches for his family and his students.

Mr. Bond has been my math teacher and math team sponsor for two years, and I relied on his support throughout high school. He was easy to talk to, because he was a good listener, he never criticized, and he could always find something to make me laugh. Whenever I had to speak on stage after him at Mu Alpha Theta events, he would keep me from getting nervous by making jokes and telling stories. He talked a lot in my class about his family, especially how much he respected his parents and loved his siblings. Mr. Bond was a family man, and he treated his students like family. I will miss him dearly, and it was an honor to know him.

I worked with a caring, gentle young man named William at UAB.  He was always such a kind and thoughtful teacher to students.  I send my deepest condolences to his family.

I taught a sweet kid named Will Bond at Hoover High School a little while ago.  I am not surprised to hear that he grew into a loved and respected teacher.  I am heartbroken to hear of his passing and I'm very sad for all those who loved him so much.

Meredith, just talked to my mom and she read about your son. So very sorry to hear about William.

William never ate the green stuff. When I stayed in the Bond-Oversteegen residence, they were going through their vegetarian years and so there always was green stuff on the plates. William never made a scene but tried to avoid eating the greens in a good natured way, by making up some kind of silly excuse. Mum, can I eat this tomorrow? Always cheerful and many friends. I remember a whole gang of boys in the basement, playing some kind of shooting game on the playstation, divided up in two teams, having loads of fun.  William enjoyed life and it is sad that he cannot enjoy it longer.

I loved William like a brother. We have been on too many camping and fishing trips in the last 15 years to count. He will be missed beyond measure! My sincere sympathies go out to his entire family.

William will me missed so very much. His kind spirit and the little twinkle in his eye made me smile whenever I'd pass by his classroom. He was a most beloved teacher to the students who were fortunate enough to  be in his classes. Please know that he will never be forgotten by his ASFA family. I am most thankful for the laughter that William brought to work. We joked often and would talk mostly about eating strange things, growing up with cool pets, and how much we love our brothers. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers.

I taught with William at ASFA and I know these kids cherished him. He was such a gentle soul with such a good heart - people of all ages could not help but be drawn to him.  William was so soft spoken and so admired.  He will truly be missed around here by all of us.

When new teachers come to ASFA we sometimes have faculty introduce them after having "interviewed" them. I was lucky enough to introduce William and, being a cheesy guy from Indiana, I introduced him as "Bond, William Bond". He took it in stride and continued to go with the ASFA flow while enhancing our community in many ways. Every time I walked by his classroom, which had big glass windows so one could see the entire room from the hallway, students were engaged, attentive, and frequently smiling and laughing. He brought joy and inspired curiosity. I am better having known him.

Dear Mrs. Bond,
I have several connections with your family because my son took karate with Lex for several years.  And, I taught with William at ASFA.  We were in different departments and I didn't see him often, but it was always such a happy thing to run into him in the hallway.  He always had a smile on his face.  I know the students absolutely adored him.  William is greatly missed.

There is a silence, a space in my day as I begin this school year after William's passing. Whenever I would come by his room to say hi, William would stop what he was doing and swap a story. Around 10-15 times per day, every time I would leave my classroom I would look into William's classroom and we would reciprocate funny faces, waves, etc. He always made me laugh, but also impacted me in the way he taught. It was never about about "what" he was teaching, but more about "why" he taught. He truly loved his students and wanted the best for them - even if it meant sacrifices on his part. I was always impressed with how much he cared about his students' well-being and will think of him often as I continue to try to make an impact half as memorable as his.

There is a huge void left in the ASFA math and science department without William.  I  will miss him dearly.  My thoughts and prayers go out to his family at this time.

We first met William when he was 5 years old. It seems like it was only yesterday. It was such a shock to us and our heartfelt sympathies go out to Meredith, Lex, Adrienne and Andrew. We can not imagine their pain and wish them strength for the future. We hope they will find comfort in their memories of William.
