

After graduating from Georgia Tech in 1953, Mr. Brogdon served as a U.S. Navy pilot from 1953-1956. He retired from Shell Oil Company in 1991 with 38 years of employment there.
Mr. Brogdon and his wife, the former Jane Carol Mitchell, were residents of the Greystone community of eastern Birmingham until 2015. As a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, Mr. Brogdon did volunteer work for many years.
Hoyt was predeceased by his parents, William Lloyd Brogdon and Callie Mulling Brogdon, and one brother, Bill Brogdon.
Survivors include Hoyt’s wife of 64 years, Jane; one daughter, Andrea Lowery; two sons, Barry Brogdon (Ann) and Clay Brogdon (Kandie); grandchildren, Patrick Brogdon (Tiffany), John Brogdon (Monica), Colleen Witherspoon (Chance), Clayt Brogdon (Michelle), Shane Brogdon (Jennifer), Whitney Adkins (Chris), Ty Brogdon (Lauren), and Allie Lowery (fiancé, Travis); and 11 great-grandchildren.
The memorial service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Danberry at Inverness, with visitation immediately following. Rev. Greg Faust will officiate.
