

Bill is predeceased by his parents, A. Louise Piper Ryan (Chicago Police Department) and Joseph Carroll Ryan (Chicago Police Department), and his brothers, James and Thomas. Bill is survived by his brother, Edward.
Survivors also include Bill's loving wife and best friend of 51 years, Margaret Bermingham Ryan. They were married in Chicago, IL on February 5, 1966.
Bill is also remembered with love by his five children, Theresa Ryan Ball, Catherine Ryan (Stephen) Caero, William John (Dedria) Ryan, John Joseph Ryan and Patricia Ryan (Michael) Dennis; and nine grandchildren, Grayson Margaret Ball, Emily Ann Ryan, William Michael Ryan, Stephen Ryan Caero, Patrick Carroll Caero, Mary Margaret Louis Caero, William Joesph Caero, Piper Mirian Dennis, and Charles Schaefer Dennis.
Bill was born in Chicago, IL on September 15, 1943. He graduated from Leo Catholic High School and went on to earn a degree from DePaul University in 1966. He worked in the Internal Revenue Service’s “IRS” Criminal Investigations Division as a Special Agent. He retired as Chief in 1980 and went on to build a successful consulting practice with his best friend, Reginald Wright.
As a proud Southsider of Chicago where sports are an integral part of life and competition is ingrained, Bill and his neighborhood buddies, who turned into lifelong friends, played ball nonstop. He fostered that love of sports in his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed watching all sports, especially the DePaul Blue Demons basketball and his beloved Chicago Cubs. He was elated to see the Cubs finally win the World Series in 2016.

The visitation will be at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home, 475 Cahaba Valley Road Pelham, AL 35124 on Monday, October 9, 2017 from 4–7 p.m. Prayers will be offered at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, 5514 Double Oak Lane Birmingham Al 35242 on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 from 10-10:30 a.m., immediately followed by Mass starting at 10:30 a.m. at the church.
