Billy Herman Phillips

PELL CITY - Funeral service for Billy Herman Phillips, age 81, will be held Sunday, March 21 at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Kilgroe Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Valley Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday from Noon until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Phillips passed away Thursday, March 18, 2021. He is preceded in death by his first wife of 30 years, Martha Marie Dunnaway; daughter, Janet Lynn Phillips; his parents, Hershell Eugene Phillips and Clara Mae Layton Phillips; 2 brothers, Houston and Gerald Phillips and a sister, Bertha Ann Haynes; and a son-in-law, Chris Dockins.

Billy Herman Phillips was born July 24, 1939 in Riverside, Alabama. He cut pulpwood for a living until he retired. He enjoyed being around people and had many friends. He never met a stranger. He enjoyed going to McDonalds, Arbys and City Market to talk with his friends.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Hurst Phillips; 3 sons, Billy Randall Phillips (Lisa Tedder), Ronnie Hurst (Rita), Randy Hurst (Regina); 4 daughter, Barbara Sue Horton (Billy Joe), Rita Gail Thomason (Tad), Sandra Lynn Dockins (Chris), Rhonda Shear (Greg); 18 grandchildren, Brian Keith Windsor, Chanda Marie Johnson (Jerome), Christy Lynn Ray, Jonathon Lamar Ray (Stephanie), Angela Marie Trammell, Kenneth Lee Phillips (Cyndi), Kyle Matthew Phillips (Bree), Robert Lee Thomason (Emily), April Denise Thomason, Justin Bryce Dockins (Haley), Jami Stanley (Christian), Nicholas Hurst, Tyler Hurst, Tiffany Hurst, Crystal Ramsey (Drew), Brett Hurst, Heather Lavender (Garland), Adam Shear; 28 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; 3 brothers, Donald Gene Phillips (Sue), Luther Ray Phillips (Cathey), Roger Dale Phillips (Jodi Genard); 4 sisters, Sarah Nell Bryant (Bobby), Linda Faye Kimmey (Harvey), Iva Dean Talley (John), Nancy Lee Endress (Frank).
