Mr. David Donald Brower of Pell City, Alabama, passed away March 3, 2020 from complications following open-heart surgery. Dave lived a full and interesting life. He was born March 18, 1952 in upstate New York. Having lost both of his parents at a young age, Dave took on the task of looking after his younger brother, Kevin. He was big brother and a father figure as a teenager. After high school, the Army and Vietnam was his next adventure. A bullet wound was his souvenir. Upon completing his Army service, Dave became a cowboy. A real cowboy. He loved animals and was skilled in all things cowboy, especially training horses. Next, Dave continued his education while working for New York State at State University of New York, SUNY. Dave took his technical knowledge to start his own business. Basing his company in Tennessee, Dave conducted training classes in fiber optics throughout the US and world. With his expansive knowledge of telephone systems, Dave then went to work for the Army as a Department of the Army Civilian establishing many updated telephone systems for the Alabama National Guard. Installing a modern secure telephone system in the US Embassy in Dakar, the capital of Senegal, Africa was David’s next adventure. For his last vocational chapter, David went to work for the Veteran’s Administration as a senior IT Specialist.
David Brower lived life to the fullest. He was a soldier, cowboy, entrepreneur, teacher and IT whizz. Most importantly, he was a husband, father, brother and friend. By his nature, Dave was a “shirt off his back” and do anything for you, generous friend.
Throughout his life, Dave enjoyed animals, hot rod cars, motorcycles, fishing and building projects around his home. He did everything at full throttle. Dave treated friends like family. He will be truly missed by family and friends. He leaves many good times to remember.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Brower; step-son, Scott (Andrea) Goyette; step-daughter, Debra Saponaro (John Sullivan); 3 grandchildren, Robby Saponaro, Mitchell Saponaro, Chrissy Coon; brother, Kevin (Sue) Brower; nephews, Ryan & Adrian Brower.
