I still can’t get over Frankie’s death. She was a wonderful person and I wish I could have spent every day with her.  She always had an engaging smile and bright eyes, made you feel like you were the only thing she was thinking of. I have known Frankie since 1962, when I worked at A&P, and have not been able to spend much time with her, but always had a very satisfying conversation when I would see her. She was one of my favorite people, and I truly will miss her.      

Tanya and Mitzi, I’m so very sorry that you are in such sadness now. I dearly loved your mother. I met her September 6, 1977 when I went to work at People’s Bank. From that first morning on we’ve remained good friends. She taught me to be a people person, a banker, and in many ways to be a better wife and mother. I remember that after working with her for 18 months I found out that she was my supervisor! She never made me or anyone else feel inferior, she worked harder than all of us! I’ve never known another person like Frankie. She has been a main character in my life; she owns a part of my heart. I’d like to think that now she will finally sit down and get some rest but I bet she’s in Glory still finding something to work on but I know she’s still making people happy!

Although we were neighbors for many years, I didn’t get to know the real Frankie Underwood until my late teens working at the Pell City Twin Cinema. She would sometimes manage the theater when the owner Marilyn Quarles was out of town, and I discovered what I had been missing for all of those years living just down the street. Frankie Underwood was one of the most joyful, fun-loving people I’ve ever had the pleasure to know. Her presence would light up the room, and any day was better if she was part of it. She was a bit of a rascal at times, and a most lovable rascal indeed. Every minute that I shared with her was a blessing, and the world is a little less bright without her in it.

Tonya, Mitzi and families, we are so sorry to hear about the passing of Ms. Frankie.  We loved Ms. Frankie and Mr. Red.  They were the best neighbors we ever had.  We remember Ms. Frankie as a vibrant lady with a contagious enthusiasm for life.  She and her heavenly fried pies will definitely be missed by many.  Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. Frankie was a long time co-worker. She would cook us up a meal off a hot plate at Metro. She always was willing to go the extra mile for anyone. She blessed me with her kindness, and always looked out for me. She will be missed. 

Red and Frankie are two amazing people who I loved to sit and visit with! And no matter the conversation it always went to their family and the love they had for them all and each other 🙌🏻🙏🏻❣️

Frankie was a true friend. We met when she started working at Colonial Bank. Then I went to Metro Bank in 1990, she retired from Colonial and came to Metro Bank. I enjoyed being with her for many years. She always had a smile on her face. She was one in a million. She was like the energizer bunny, she never stopped going. Frankie will truly be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with her girls and their families.
