James "Ronnie" Roy Romano Sr.

James "Ronnie" Roy Romano Sr., age 79, of Pell City, Alabama passed away on at St. Vincent's East from natural causes on Friday, December 31, 2021. Ronnie was born October 2, 1942. The funeral service will be at Kilgroe Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at 11:00am. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:30am to 11:00am on Wednesday. Interment will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Pell City, AL.

Ronnie is survived by his wife, Judy Cooper Romano; daughters: Elizabeth "Libby" West, Sheri Rumphrey and Stephanie Hamer; son: James "Roy" Romano Jr.; grandchildren: Alex Rumphrey, Brianna Hamer, and CJ Hamer; sister, Ann Romano; special sister-in-law, Ellen Bartholomew; special brothers-in-law: Russell Cooper (Lisa) and Griff Cooper; numerous nieces and nephews; and all his fur babies.

He is preceded in death by his granddaughter: Danielle Johnson; brothers: Jimmy Romano and Wayne Brown; sister: Shirley Harmon; brothers-in law: Neal Cooper, Charlie Cooper (Georgia) and Thomas Cooper; and sister-in-law: Marianne Cooper.

Ronnie was in the US Navy and was a veteran of the Vietnam Era. He loved life, dancing, reading and hard work. He retired from ACIPCO after 37 years as a supervisor in the shipping department. ACIPCO called him out of retirement to do assessment classes for a couple of years until he decided to retire again. Ronnie was larger than life and loved his family dearly, especially the kids.
