Lilli Sunshine Robertson of Vincent, Alabama gained her heavenly wings on February 12, 2025 at 92 years young. She was born in 1932 to Hoyt and Gordia Duck, and spent most of her early life at the feet of her father in his service station, learning. All of this was helpful later in her life, when she repaired her first car at 16 and taught it to go fast. She was soon frequenting the drag racing circuit on Dead Hollow Road in Harpersville, taking everyone by surprise…and also taking home most of the winnings. Her love of music led her to study as a violinist, and she would often take the train to downtown Birmingham to perform in the Alabama Junior Symphony Orchestra. She was married in 1972 to Quinton W. Robertson of Westover, and placed a penny to commemorate each year of their long and loving marriage on the fireplace mantle. She was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church and served as a violinist there for many years.
She was predeceased by her father, Hoyt Duck, her mother, Gordia Daniel Duck, her husband Quinton W. Robertson, her sister, Gladys Mae Brantley, and her brother, Oide Duck. She is survived by her nieces Cyrenthia Megginson and Cyrethea Burbank Bains (Steve), her nephew Kenneth Duck (Nina), great nieces Cherron Phillips (Mike), Cenan Barber, and Autumn Hankins (Patrick), great great nieces Kathleen Phillips and Lily Golden, and great great nephews Kristopher Phillips, Alex Massey, Justin Phillips and Grey Hankins.
Services will be held Sunday, February 16, 2025 at Calvary Baptist Church, 76 Calvary St., Vincent, Alabama 35178. Visitation will begin at 1:00pm followed by a Celebration of Life service at 2:00pm. She will be interred at Elmwood Cemetery in Birmingham, Alabama on a later date beside her husband Quinton and mother, Gordia. In lieu of flowers, gifts can be given in her honor to Calvary Baptist Church.
